DOL’s Proposed Rule to Expand Overtime Coverage Will Increase Labor Costs for Employers

On June 30, 2015, the Department of Labor released its proposal to expand coverage under the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime rule exemption for certain types of employees.  The proposed rule raises the minimum salary threshold by more than double its current limit for employees who fall under FLSA’s “white collar” employee exemption.
