Summer Associates

Weston Hurd LLP has maintained a summer associate program since the early 1960s. A significant number of our current partners are products of this program. Since the late 1980's, the size of our summer program has varied between three and five summer associates.
Each summer associate works under the supervision of an assigning partner. Most projects involve legal research and the preparation of memoranda and briefs. Throughout the summer, opportunities are provided for daily contact with all associates and partners, as well as exposure to a variety of work assignments which may include depositions, arbitrations, negotiations, closings and courtroom proceedings.
The firm provides a program of cultural, athletic and social events designed to introduce summer associates to all members of the firm and to the Greater Cleveland area. In addition the firm assists out-of-town students in finding housing for the summer.
Over the years, interviewers from the firm have visited many Midwestern, east coast and mid-Atlantic law schools, and have participated in a variety of law school consortium programs. It also solicits and carefully reviews the resumes of law students at institutions where it does not interview on campus. Those students who are invited to visit the firm will have their travel and accommodation expenses paid. An in-office visit will entail interviews with three or four lawyers and lunch or dinner with others.
