Weston Hurd LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua C. Berns and Douglas R. Unver have joined the firm’s Columbus office.
Joshua C. Berns joins Weston Hurd as an Associate and will focus his practice on commercial, civil and general litigation, as well as insurance coverage and insurance defense matters. Joshua received his B.A./B.S. in 2007 from Kent State University and his J.D. cum laude in 2013 from Capital University Law School. While at Capital, Joshua was a CALI Award recipient for Legal Research and Writing as well as Administrative Law. He was also a two-year member and an Associate Note Editor of the Capital University Law Review. Upon graduation he became a member of the Order of the Curia for academic achievements. Joshua gained his Ohio Bar admission in 2013 and also has admission before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Douglas R. Unver joins Weston Hurd as a Partner and will focus his practice on workers’ compensation matters. Prior to joining Weston Hurd, Douglas served in the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Ohio as a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Workers’ Compensation Defense Unit and the Workers’ Compensation Section where he represented public universities and agencies in workers’ compensation matters. Douglas received his B.A. in 1987 from The Ohio State University and his J.D. in 1990 from Capital University Law School. He gained his Ohio and Indiana Bar admissions in 1991 and his Georgia Bar admission in 1995. Douglas also has admission before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Douglas has received the AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and in May 2014, he was named to the Top Lawyers List in Central Ohio by Columbus CEO Magazine.
