With decades of insurance defense litigation experience, insurance disputes escalating, and issues becoming more complex, Weston Hurd's Insurance-Coverage Group has a broad practice covering virtually all types of first party, third party and inter-company insurance coverage disputes.
The legal ramifications to the insured, insurer and re-insurer require prompt, efficient and effective evaluation of insurance contracts and an understanding of the constantly changing law concerning insurance coverages. The Insurance Group typically prepares for their clients comprehensive coverage opinion letters, reservations of rights letters and/or coverage denial letters as well as defends and/or prosecutes claims for declaratory judgement.
This group is adept at conducting examinations under oath and litigating all aspects of insurance coverage disputes. They also advise underwriting departments on issues related to the drafting of insurance policies and coverage endorsements.
The Insurance Group publishes three newsletters (Ohio Insurance Law Watch, Insurance Coverage Newsletter and the Ohio Bad Faith Monitor)and has an e-mail alert system whereby clients are kept apprised of significant case law and legislative developments affecting the insurance industry.
