Weston Hurd Partner Cornelius J. (Corky) O’Sullivan has been trained and certified by The Cleveland Mediation Center and has fulfilled the requirements of the Supreme Court of Ohio Rule 16 to provide services as a Professional Mediator.
During his career, Corky has participated in well over 150 civil mediations and has served as an Arbitration Chairman in Cuyahoga County since 2000. He routinely volunteers his time, pro bono, to the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.
Corky joined Weston Hurd in January 2019 after spending nearly 15 years as a Senior Litigation Attorney with CNA Ins. Co.
Corky has 30 years of legal experience with over 25 years in civil litigation. He routinely handles large loss matters and has tried over 40 cases as the first chair attorney. Corky’s practice areas include catastrophic claims, general commercial liability, wrongful death, construction defect, real estate, professional liability, long term care, trucking and UM/UIM litigation. He routinely represents architects, engineers, accountants, realtors and other professionals on litigated and non-litigated matters. Corky has significant training and practice in defending Reptile Theory cases and has established an emergency response protocol for the handling of urgent matters. Corky is routinely asked to quash subpoenas issued to counselors and therapists who have been served for appearance in domestic and juvenile court.
Within the community, Corky serves as Director of the Flock Community Meals in Lakewood, an organization that prepares and serves 200 plus meals a month at two locations. He is a past-president of the Cleveland Association of Civil Trial Attorneys and has been recognized by the Defense Research Institute (DRI) for his exceptional service. The father of four Eagle Scouts, Corky is a Scout Leader in BSA Troop 287 in Lakewood, Ohio.
