The Ohio Department of Education & Workforce’s Office for Exceptional Children has released proposed revisions to the required and supplemental (formally optional) forms for special education student documentation. These form revisions include student Evaluation Team Report (ETR), Individualized Education Program (IEP), Prior Written Notice to Parents (PR-01), Manifestation Determination Review, and other related forms.
Weston Hurd encourages school districts, especially Directors of Special Education, Student Services, and Pupil Services, to review the changes and provide feedback to the Office for Exceptional Children. The feedback window is currently open until May 30, 2025, through the following links:
Additionally, the Office for Exceptional Children released updated procedural safeguards with a new version of A Guide to Parent Rights in Special Education, which must be used by school districts beginning July 1, 2025.
For Further Information: We will continue to monitor developments from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce’s Office for Exceptional Children. Please reach out to Lisa Woloszynek or any of the attorneys in Weston Hurd’s Education Law Group to discuss further. We would be happy to assist your administrative teams in navigating these complex challenges.
